ICAANE (International Conference on the Archaeology of the Ancient Near East) is the biggest congress on the archaeology of the Ancient Near East from Paleolithic till the Islamic period. It is held every second year in a leading European university. In 2012 the International Committee of ICAANE has chosen Warsaw as the place of the next congress. Institute of Prehistory participated in work on the preparation of the 8 ICAANE since the very beginning. 

The venue of the 8th ICAANE is The Old Library at the Main Campus of the Warsaw University. The conference will be held from April 30th till May 4th, 2012. Registration of participant will start on Sunday, April 29th, from 3.00 p.m. in the Old Library building. 

The scientific program of the 8th ICAANE is divided into 7 thematic sessions (about 300 papers) and 8 specialist workshops (about 130 lectures). Besides, more than 50 posters will be presented to the audience of the conference. The organizers expect more than 800 guests from all the continents.
