This Department concentrates its research activities on the final
period of antiquity and the early medieval and medieval period in the
Wielkopolska and Pomerania regions. One of its main achievements
has been a thorough study of settlement patterns in the Parsęta river-basin
(Middle Pomerania) which resulted in the recognition of the Dębczyno group,
a new element in the Wielbark culture. Other
interests comprise of provincial Rome culture and the numerous aspects
of prehistory of the western part of the Slavs territory. Additionally,
the department's staff study the rites, art and contacts between Slavs
and Germans. |
