Zainteresowania badawcze

Interesuje się dynamiką procesów społecznych w epoce brązu i wczesnej epoce żelaza w Europie Środkowej (2000-500 p.n.e.) w oparciu o analizy materiału archeologicznego z wykorzystaniem metod statystycznych. W badaniach tych szczególny nacisk kładę na wieloaspektowe studia materiału ceramicznego z kontekstów osadowych jako pule danych do zagadnień takich jak ekonomia, tożsamość, nierówności społeczne czy zmiana kulturową.

Szczególnie interesują mnie zagadnienia takie jak:

Weryfikacja klasyfikacji kulturowych w oparciu o neutralny opis materiału archeologicznego,
Badanie relacji między zmianami osadniczymi a kulturą materialną,
Wpływ nierówności społecznych na życie codzienne.

W badaniach tych kładę nacisk na komputerowe metody analityczne (Excel, R, QGIS, OxCal) oraz wykorzystanie systemów bazodanowych.

Zainteresowania te realizuję obecnie w ramach projektu na Wydziale Archeologii UAM projekt pt. „Integracja, trwanie i porażka - agregacja i dyspersja populacji we wczesnej epoce żelaza w mikroregionie smuszewskim”, który otrzymał finansowanie ramach programu NAWA Polskie Powroty 2023 wraz z komponentem badawczym NCN. Jego celem jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie co doprowadziło do powstania grodziska typu biskupińskiego w Smuszewie między IX a VII w. przed Chr., jak wyglądało życie jego mieszkańców i co sprawiło, że osada ostatecznie uległa zniszczeniu. Bazą do tego projektu są dane archeologiczne zgromadzone z badań archeologicznych prowadzonych w drugiej połowie XX w. Jednym z głównych celów projektu jest pełna digitalizacja materiałów oraz dokumentacji zgromadzonych w Muzeum Archeologicznym w Poznaniu.

Scientific interests

I am interested in the dynamics of social processes in Bronze Age and Early Iron Age Central Europe (c. 2000-500 BCE) based on the analyses of archaeological materials and statistical methods. In this research, I place particular emphasis on multi-aspect studies of ceramic materials from settlement contexts as datasets for investigations of past economy, identity, inequality and cultural change.

I am particularly interested in:

1. Verification of cultural classifications based on a neutral description of archaeological finds,

2. Examining the relationship between settlement change and material culture,

3. The impact of social inequalities on everyday life.

To this end, I focus on computational methods (Excel, R, QGIS, OxCal) and database systems.

I weave these interests together in my current project at the AMU Faculty of Archaeology – "Coming together, staying together, and failing – population aggregation and dispersion in the Early Iron Age Smuszewo microregion", funded by the NAWA Polish Returns 2023 program. The project’s goal is to answer the question of what led to the creation of a Biskupin-type fortified settlement in Smuszewo between the 9th and 7th centuries BC, what the life of its inhabitants was like, and what caused the settlement to fail. The basis for this project is archaeological data collected during the second half of the 20th century and one of the main objectives is the full digitization of materials and documentation held in the Archaeological Museum in Poznań.
